SSC CGL Preparation Strategy: A Practical Study Plan for Beginners
· admin
SSC CGL preparation becomes much easier when your study is organised around concepts, practice, revision and timed tests. Acadvik recommends a simple four-stage approach: Learn → Practise → Analyse → Improve.
1. Understand the SSC CGL exam structure
Before collecting study material, understand the subjects, question types, time pressure and the role of accuracy. Your preparation should gradually move from untimed learning to exam-speed practice.
2. Build Quantitative Aptitude fundamentals
Start with arithmetic fundamentals such as percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time-speed-distance and basic algebra. Maintain a formula and error notebook.
3. Make Reasoning a daily scoring practice area
Practise analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, syllogism, inequalities, direction sense and logical reasoning. After every practice session, identify question types that consume excessive time.
4. Improve English through repeated exposure
Combine grammar practice with vocabulary, reading comprehension, error detection and sentence-based questions. Instead of memorising large word lists without context, revise words repeatedly through questions and reading.
5. Keep General Awareness manageable
Divide preparation into static areas and current developments. Use short revision notes and frequent MCQ practice rather than repeatedly reading the same long material.
6. Use mock tests as a feedback system
Do not wait until the final weeks to start mocks. Begin with topic tests, then sectional tests, and finally full-length timed papers. Review every incorrect and guessed question.
7. A simple weekly routine
- 5 days: concepts + topic practice
- 1 day: sectional tests + error analysis
- 1 day: full revision + mock test
